"compound stream" error on recovered .als file

Has the following error been fixed?

My hard drive crashed and I successfully recovered all .wav and .als files. The .wavs play fine but when I open the .als files I am told:

"An error occurred while reading "file.als". Apparently, the document was created by a more recent, and incompatible, version of Live than this."

[Unknown Compound Stream Type]

I see this discussed in earlier topics but it's not clear if the problem has been solved. I'm using the same Live version as before, but my current installation is from a brand new CD.
