long midi loop without retrigger + amp modulation?

Post by xdissent » Wed Sep 06, 2006 2:51 pm

ok i guess this is a two parter. however let me first say i'm just now trying live and it is quite possibly the greatest piece of software i've ever seen. it's going to save me thousands of dollars - which is also good.

so lets say i have a crazy long midi triggered sample that i want to just play continuously throughout my song. is there any way to make it loop forever without retriggering in session view?

additionally, this super long sound would be extra cool if i could hook the lfo up to the actual amplitude of the midi signal controlling it. i come from analog world and it's a real no-brainer there... hook the lfo up to a vca and run the oscillator through the vca. i'm not sure how this transfers to midi though... i tried messing with the random midi effect, but that wouldn't cut the note off, just changed pitch. i would REALLY like to do this in session view. in arrangement view i know i can draw all the volume changes in, but that too would suck to have to do. any ideas?

no i get the loop thing... however, i want it to just... i dont know... continue the sound? ok lets say the envelope has a sharp attack and a quick delay, but a high sustain and extremely slow release. so its punchy at the start but sustains forever. i'd like to make a loop for this clip that just has one note - but as long as the clip is looping, it "skips" the attack peak. i just want a loop to basically pretend im holding down a key until i stop the loop. right now, that punchy attack is being retriggered every time the clip loops... makes sense?

umm you could try moving the loop start away frm the start but i guess the attack would still appear each time it comes around. You could record it to audio & loop section you want.

or i suppose you could just make a massive clip, one that doesnt loop but goes on for 1000 bars or whatever.
