I have recorded several guitar pieces that sound find when listening in Ableton with headphones. But when I transfer the files to my Windows Media Player the volume (even with the player turned all the way up) is too low. How can I adjust those files so that they have normal volume when played through the Windows player or when burned to a CD.
Many thanks,
Jack

Getting a "loud enough" mix is a common problem. You should try referencing another track you are happy with volume wise by throwing it in the project you are working on and comparing mixes. Play with the ableton master volume and see how loud you can go without clipping(volume hits red when it clips). One thing I've found with ableton is that the volume meter isn't always very true. I've had mixes that hit red frequently, and even stay in red, that don't clip. Experiment.
