Ableton Live 2 Power! — Any Good?

Post by Naive Teen Idol » Wed Feb 11, 2004 9:30 pm

I'm fairly new to Live, and think the manual's pretty good, as these things go. But is the Ableton Live 2 Power! worth getting? I find these things tend to be pretty useful to really get the most out of a program.

Also, is there supposed to be an updated version of this coming out? I'm a Live 3 user...

Ableton Live 2 Power is a fantastic book. It goes well beyond the manual...it's a good introduction, but then it goes fairly deep as well--good tips/tricks kind of stuff. I'm sure there will be another edition coming, but this one covers 90% of the functionality of v3. Nothing on clip envelopes, obviously. But, as I say, well worth it.

Great, thanks. I emailed Dave today, and he's not sure he's going to get to v. 3 anytime soon. Besides, as you said, most of it's covered anyway. I'm looking forward to picking it up.

Thank you all for the nice things you say about my book. It is very rewarding to hear that my ramblings are helping people make music with such an amazing program.

I do want to let you all know that at this time, I am unable to update my book. I just don't know when or if I can get back to it.

I am however working hard to create better tutorials and tips and tricks for Live. Keep watching our site for more tips and other exciting educational tidbits.

thank you all again for your support!

Can I be really cheeky and ask why? Working on other projects? Publisher wants to see long term sales figures? Waiting until Live 4.0?

No worries if you don't want to be specific.

No problem, I have just way too much on my plate at the moment and doing a book project of this size and intensity is a labor of love (even an update).

I am also working for Ableton now so it only makes sense to focus my writing on inside projects.

Thank you for the support though, best all, and who knows someday it may just happen!

I would like to thank Dave as well. I just finished reading his book 'Live 2.0 Power'. I think its the first software book Ive read cover to cover. He keeps it interesting by writing in a casual style and putting all kinds of tips and interviews throughout.
I definitely recommend it to any new users out there. Nice Job, Dave.
