if you are talking generally tho :) try making your songs in a differant way than you nornally do... for example if usually start with the beats change and start with the chords / bass line.. or whatever...

sometimes a loop can be good to get you going as well.. try throwing a few into your track and see where it takes you...

Listen to music that inspires you. Play along with music that inspires you.

Throw your clips in arrange view and stretch them out to 8 and 16 lengths. make it a few minutes long and loop it. Go back to seesion view and start adding synth tracks or audio elements. Play around with different sounds while the whole piece loops. I find it helps to get me out of the loop mentality when I make the sections longer. I tend to hear the overall piece better.

yeah... take a walk.

and if the song just isn't working the way it is I always say shorten some of the parts. it's easy to inject more energy into a song when sections don't drag on endlessly.

No one said you should build anything in it! It has a user library the size of manhattan, no need to re-invent the wheel! Just turn on Skrewell or something and wait around for the magic to happen :)

yeah thats the one :) or I like to get some of the granular stuff up & then throw some loops/samples into them... set ableton recording & then pick the bits I like... gives me so much material to workwith working this way.

for me, it depends

finish with what you have, bounce to session view, save it off and move on. do whatever 'non creative' work, like basic arrangement, bouncing, track labelling etc, just to keep things moving.

I like to try new Live tricks to get the juices flowing, new tricks, new inspiration, check the sticky in tips n tricks for new ideas.

open a new set, change up styles, get a new vibe on. sometimes I'll swtich to playing guitar for a bit.

have something to eat/smoke/drink/tv/bang the wife/fresh air, get away for a bit.

Sometimes I call out a 'loss of momentum' (literally out loud to myself) when I find myself wondering what to do next and losing interest. I put my head down and get back to it. I get tired but can still put in a few more hours.
