Dynamic Tube, EQ 8 and the new Saturator features are all great! I like the "pro meters" too. I discovered that I can finally select and delete multiple tracks at once!!!! :D What else... loaded some logic ESX24 samples into the sampler just to test it out. It works. Not much else to say about that. I might be imagining things but the filter on sampler seems to sound a bit nicer than any of the other ableton filters.

just started with it but first happy moments:

1. multi track export! perfect as i go to mix a track in another studio out of town next week... just saved me hours of boring tedious bouncing!

2. device groups... haven't even scratched the surface and already got lots of tasty stacking synths... mmm.... like kore without the hardware.. (and cross platform compatibility i suppose.)

3. dynamic tube. just played with briefly but sounds nice!

heres one most people (even the long time testers) haven't noticed.

if you hold the shift button and click on multiple tracks you can freeze as many as you like all at once.

though it only works if they are consecutive (right next to each other)
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

which launches you into some sort of debugging "safe mode" style live right? why would you want to do that?

I'm still trying to figure out why all my clips, impulse kits, etc. are not showing up in the browser and live devices on the left - it seems something is missing but I've yet to figure out how to make Live 6 see all my Live 5 stuff PLUS the new stuff in Live 6...gotta cruise the boards and see if there is an answer to this.

Otherwise...I like it so far...definitely some new stuff to learn...but reading through the what's new is helping :-)
You can either copy your old live directory to the new one created when installing Live 6 or point your library option at you old library. Worked like a charm for me.

the educational applications could be awesome, look over hambone1's shoulder while he's DJing, watch a crazy ass 30 track Machinate track play, out, see exactly how they do that thang.

sorry sir, I'll be more inventive on the next post :P

The plan to keep a tight circle of testers appears to have paid off. Seems pretty stable to me. It's great to be able to get some use out of that other processor!

The few racks that were included were very nice. I really hope there will be a ton of them included in the final release, but I'm not holding my breath. The Abes have always been a little sparse on presets. I would gladly pay for a bunch of really nice and flexible presets than a bunch of samples I've already got. Propellerheadz got it right when they introduced Combi's with a very comprehensive library. (Yeah, yeah, I know the whole spiel about creating your own presets -- I'd much rather graze and tweak myself.)

Wish I had some documentation on the new browser features and projects. I always like improving my workflow.

I'm avoiding even looking at Sampler. It seems like it would just be a distraction. Now if I didn't have a sampler, that would be a different story.

Like the Meters. Got a little confused, because running a single clip on one track didn't always matched the values from the Master track. I think it has to do with the sampling windows that are used to compute the current peaks. Other than that, very usable. Didn't realize how much I missed them.

Haven't tried the Deep Freeze yet. With all the extra CPU power, I'm not sure how much I'll need it.

Still bummed about having to buy samples if I want the manual. Considering I'm not really interested in the samples, that's like paying over $100 for the manual. Sorry! Guess I'll just go a little more blind reading stuff off my monitor.

nebulae wrote:Also, the tutorial section says there should be some rack presets, but I have none. It would be helpful to see how a few racks are set up, so that I can learn them better. Perhaps some of the older beta users could post a few racks? Trackteam or Covert Ops? :)
Heres a little LivePack of Sampler racks i made a while ago. Nothing too deep with racks, but fun nonetheless. 4 samples were used as occilators. Maybe you can get some ideas for Sampler too.
