Live clips (alc) lose their reference clip

Post by Chris J » Tue Apr 18, 2006 11:02 am

For a DJ set
Because Live 5 couldn't handle my whole set whereas Live 4 could, I had to create a live clip of each of my songs to import them on the fly. All the clips point to the original files that are ALL in the same folder, as the original set was self contained.(Which is why I had to create clips to assemble them by tempo, rather than alphabetically in the self contained folder, that also contained loops and stuff)
But while DJing many tracks showed a warning message like "can't find the track, would you like to blah blah blah"
pressed yes, opened the folder where the track was, which was the path that the clip showed at the bottom of the screen, clicked OK, and that was it.
But I had to do it MANY times for different clips that one day opened without problem but the next couldn't be found.

ableton would have to answer this...

im assuming that you are having problem only with mp3 files... becausei it is theoretically possible that the live clips of those stored tracks reference wav files with specific name or something in your decoded cache and that when you import the live clip it looks for the decoded version of the mp3 file as opposed to importing the mp3 and decoding it...

no, I use only wav files.
Just before my set I checked all .alc files, they were all referencing to the right tracks, but on the night, it was not allright ;)

there's no consistence, sometimes it's one track, then another, rarely twice the same.

Same problem here. All the live clips that I recorded myself lost their references. I search and replace them (not so easy to decide which one of the i.e. four "0008 2-git.aif" I should take, because no file path is given and no chance to hear the audio in advance...) but Live forgets them immediately thereafter.

MIDI Live Clips are referenced.
