VSTs make everything else freeze up

When I'm running my Arturia Arp 2600V VST, and I twist knobs, or basically do anything that requires I hold the mouse down to adjust it, I notice that live will sort of freeze until I let off the mouse. The music doesn't stop, and it doesn't glitch, just VISUALLY everything stops, the VU meters stop bouncing, my other VSTs stop displaying things, kinda like live can't handle doing anything else while i'm twisting the knob. Is this normal?

If I run the 2600V VST on it's own outside of Live, as it's own app, and patch it out one of the outputs of my soundcard and then back in to another input and into live, it works fine, but this is kinda "hoakie".

im not sure why yhis is happening but afaik its not normal.
i dont usually run things standalone in conjunction with live if i can run them as a plugin, but when i do i dont get this anyways.

Try rebooting first, then, try working with diffrent Buffer settings. It usually happens when there's lot of CPU usuage . Try CPU saving techniques in the Manual. It Definately Helps!
