Live stops..then starts again!?
During a set, I am using the BCF to control, i will be DJing and firing clips, after a time (this varies) ..then as I fire a clip live will stop for a second or less then continue...with the processor at less than 30. Everything stays in sync, its almost like i lifted the needle off the record and put it back. Is it just my 800mhz powerbook with 1 gig ram gets overwhelmed or what..anybody help?! thanks. I am using an ext hard drive and all my files are aif.

I get this with an operator clip, after the first time of playing it does this, CPU meter spikes, but after that it's fine. I can play the clip over and over after it has played once.
Somebody on here suggested making sure that the plugin buffer size was set to half that of the audio buffer size, but it didn't work for me.
Doesn't happen as bad in Live 6 though, so looking forward to the RC1!
Incidently I did a gig last night with v6.013b and it was fine, can't use 14th beta because of a rewire problem, not tried 15 yet

[quote="peeddrroo"]does the "D" on the top right-hand side corner flash when you have these dropouts?
I didn't notice..i was staring at the screen with a look of panic on my face at the time
I am gonna mess with the buffer settings to see if i can reproduce it...AT HOME!
interesting replies..thanks..chris

There's something unexplainable happening to me too, drop outs namely - but these have really nothing to do with my soundcard - it doesn't seem to loose sync at all with this happeing (and the proc. load is under 10% so...)
any news about it? s this a bug or an user error?
k
edit: mine doesn't start again, just loses (mutes) a beat and goes on. I'll doublecheck though.

I'm getting this in the 6. beta 15 .... and many before ....loaded about 50 tracks into a set for djing.....every now and again.....when playing no more than 3 tracks at a time - with few plug ins and v low CPU usage the meter will freeze on the track playing , this will often be followed by a 1-2 second drop out, once this has happened I can be sure it will keep happening over the next few hours and find myself praying!!
Its only CRASHED once completely - beta 12 - computer wouldn't restart and had to abandon gig and re boot via orig install discs.

So ive tested with a soundcard and with the apple internal soundcard...with the BCF and without...it happens, randomly but i'm finding it hard to rely on it at a gig. I'm thinking of upgrading my powerbook, but it appears to be going on with the new macs?
Twice at a club after this little drop out happened i switched over to Serato as backup. So I am not confident with live for a whole gig, but there are plenty of users that haven't had this problem, or ARE there?

I play every saturday out plus 1 or 2 night a month other places, plus a couple of home sessions a week and I have only had dropouts once, defragged my disk and it was all better, don't know if this will help in your case but it did in mine.DJChrisPaul wrote:Twice at a club after this little drop out happened i switched over to Serato as backup.
