I am not a beta tester, nor to I clamor to be one. I don't have time to do it proper, so why bother. I am happy with 5.2 and didn't plan to upgrade until I felt the verdict on stability was really out.
my gut is now telling me that 6 is going to be very stable from the get-go and that I should just get 6+Sampler+operator ASAP and be happy. Live is the heart of my DAW, and brings so much enjoyment to my life. It will feel good to give them a bunch of $$$.
perhaps part of my uncommon anxiousness is that if Live is releasing a major update every year, then one doesn't really have all that much time to master all the new features before the next version. If you are gonna get it anyway, get it ASAP cause you only have 12 months before you pay to upgrade again.

Come on, fellas. For us dual processor people freezing and rendering our way to eternity we sure could use a straight answer. It is like a gentle balm for our open wounds. It really makes a difference......
Wrinkled Mac G4 dual 1.25, Tascam FW-1884, stupid Novation Remote 49, sparkely drumkits, broken studio A/C, and piles of other working junk, etc..
They said 'september'. That will be a tough row to hoe, but it is, urhm, hoe-able.
Look at the beta testing board, how many bugs are open/unresolved. how many new coming in. The Abes are very open about their bug reporting. This way of testing is the best way to get the application exercised, although the quality of the test feedback is not as good as one might get with all internal testing.
If a beta generates more bugs than it resolves, that moves away from releasing, if it resolves more than it generates, that comes closer to release.
In the past, there was a full public beta before release. Right now, they have less than two weeks to resolve all open bugs. Will the next beta be a full public beta? If so that will give them a little more than a week of full public beta testing to meet a September date, and a full public beta would tend to result in more bug reports. The beta board currently has a lot of open bugs.
It could be argued that "coming in September" refers to a full public beta, but even so there needs to be a cutoff for the beta period.
Based on input on this board, they could also decide to postpone the release, due to a groundswell of enthusiastic users imploring that the Abes work through all issues thoroughly for the best possible application.
y'never know.
And this thread will now come to a halt, because of late it appears i have that effect on threads, sorry.
