Live and Reason midi conflict

Here is my problem: I run Live 5.2 and Reason 3 together with an M-Audio O2 and Axiom 49 on XP. When I have both programs running together, I can only use each controller to control one program. i.e. assign my 02 to Reason and my Axiom to Live. So I was wondering what I could do with my settings to let both controllers control both programs simultaneously. The problem isn't so much Live's fault, but Reason's. If anyone knows any tips that would be great.

Use a multiclient MIDI interface such as a Midisport 8x8 and plug the MIDI ports of your controllers into the 8x8. Neither of those controllers are multiclient.

sorry, but that's bullsh#t ew,

the windows drivers for both those keyboards are multiclient, they're only non-multiclient if you run them off of the built-in Windows "usb audio" driver without installing the M-Audio drivers. Using an 8x8 would be a total waste.

I've been able to run my O2 on both simultanously before, but I got a new system and reformatted the drive on my old system and now it doesn't work. I believe I had the driver installed for the O2 previously but the Axiom Driver wasn't passing windows compliance and I haven't found a way around it other than plug and play. Thanks for the advice.

what do you mean "not passing windows compliance". . .I'm sure you know to just click "continue anyway". . .if it keeps popping up over and over, then you've encountered an incompatibility between the Axiom driver and the O2 driver. . I believe the O2 uses the M-Audio "Evo" driver, and there is a conflict between that driver and driver Axiom uses. M-Audio is aware of this and is working on a fix from what I've heard on other threads. So yeah, unfortunately you won't be able to run Axiom in multi-client mode until M-Audio fixes this bug.

That seems to be the problem with the drivers, but I have a solution for now. If I map my midi to arm the channels in live, it will allow me to arm more than one at a time (which I don't think is supposed to happen) so I've been using a midi channel to send the notes to Reason and an audio channel to receive it's audio. I've also been using the beta version of Live 6 and it allows me to do this without the midi mapping so I'm looking forward to the full version more soon than the fixed driver. Thanks again for the advice.
