How do you group clips or organize samples?

Post by aquarian » Wed Sep 20, 2006 8:35 pm

I am looking to make a bank or group of clips/samples ie... bank 1 = drums, bank 2= bass. The only way I can think of doing this is by using impulse or a VST like Guru or Battery(something that holds samples in multiple cells), putting it on a midi track, assigning samples into the vst and then using that track as a bank of samples. I don't want to have to scroll back and forth, up and down but just jump to the next bank of samples. Another caviat to this is that when I jump to the next bank of clips, I'd like the MIDI assignment to stay the same. ie pad one launchs the first cell in bank 1 and bank 2..... I'm not sure that this is possible, or if I am even making sense here. If anyone understands, do you have a solution for this? I'd be intrested in hearing how people handle grouping/banks of samples within live. I posted groups/banks of clips as a wishlist feature, as I'd rather not load up a VST/impulse to group things... but if theres a good work around thats stable I'm all for it.
