Automated effects

Post by Ska_Mike » Fri Sep 22, 2006 12:17 am

How would I go about automating my effects while using the arrangement view. I recorded everything, including the movement of knobs on my live effects (autofilter and reverb), on the fly.

I now want to be able to reautomate those movements (due to track shifting, tiem correction, etc) without losing my original file. (not the automated effect).

any help?

I'm guessing this is one of those RTFM questions? :P

1) In the arrange view, expand the track you want to change the automation on. (Click on the triangle icon below the track name).

2) Then, in the first of the 2 drop downs, select the device you want to change the automation on.

3) In the second drop down, select the parameter that you want to change the automation on.

4) Now, use your mouse to click and drag on the nodes (or breakpoints) on the automation lines. You can also add breakpoints at any point on the line by double clicking.

what about when I have a filter on the track, and I want to record that swooshing and gradual metamorphis into nothingness. I did it the first time, but due to track adjustments, it seems to fast now. Can I edit the effect by using the x-y screen without losing the original material?
