Widescreen or not
Widescreen or not
Im going 20" and will be choosing between
1680 X 1050 Wide (1,76 million pixel)
1600 X 1200 Normal (1,92 million pixel)
Reference
1280 X 1024 (1,31 million pixel)
Seeing the numbers like this, it seems logical to
go for the 1600X1200 - but then again theres something
about wide I really like. Will be using it for other stuff.
Wide or not - any experience here ?

Lots - only 80 more pixels. Aka 5% more than normal ratio,frankie123 wrote:Go wide. Lots more real estate for editing. Makes a world of a difference.
and I'll be loosing 150 top/button.
And still I seem to want wide, but the logical side of my brain
is messing with that idea.

There is no reason to get a 20" monitor these days, unless space is a serious problem.
Get a Dell 24" widescreen. They are cheap as hell. Under $800. Great quality. Better performance specs than any of the Apple LCD panels.

20" seems to fit nice in between my priorities and needs.

Damn. That sucks. I love my country. Seems like everything costs less.

Oh Jan, go for the highest resolution - always! Wide is cool and all (24" Acer 1920 wide here), but if I could get higher total resolution for the same price I'd do it.
The only valid reasons for widescreens are:
1) Personal preference, and
2) Movies
If you don't care about either of those then go for real estate - the non-wide, imo.
