video export?
video export?
why no video export?
i would think that it would be a good idea to have a way to export your audio video creations... wouldn't you?

...also that's hardly a bug hunting beta report.

not being able to export video in Live is a bug... in a metaphorical way
exporting video would be sooooo excellent. i love the way video can be warped and looped in Live. not to take advantage of these creative possibilities is complete waste!
add the possibility to snap to time ruler and i ditch final cut

thank you Benshik, we feel the same. While it might not be a bug in the normal sense... it if a fault in the application. It's like if they created a great new audio effect for us all to use but the only catch was you couldn't hear it at all when you rendered your song.... I would call that a bug.
D.K.F,
How in the world would a video guy sync stuff up to a piece of audio that has been warped and stretched along with a video (that they can't see) inside Live... in order to be put together later in a separate video tool?
I'm not saying that Live should have full HD support... just good old quicktime would do nicely.

this would be so handy... i'm thinking along the lines of soundtrack pro being able to save directly to a quicktime.. but also Live is so good at dealing with multiple video clips, crazy video mashups would be so fun to make... i guess its going to be a matter of using something like snapz pro will be the only way..

I would think that this is not so easy. If you are going to export a movie, it has to export at a constant frame rate. Live can cheat because it is only displaying the video so it can speed up and slow down the display. Doesn't work for export. Then you have to interpolate inbetween frames. My guess is that will be a lot of work for Ableton to develop video rendering.bitmap wrote:thank you Benshik, we feel the same. heh yeh , but then wouldnt LIVE have to become ADOBE /ABELTON live .. since they probably own the rights to video exporting just like they now own practically everything else to do with the video /visual medium formats..
i for one will kill myself if ableton ever sell thier rights to LIVE to either apple , or adobe , that will truely be the end of the world..
pray for a better day!

you wouldn't want to get into interpolating frames, as the renders are adsurdly long, even on the latest hardware.. (check out optical flow technology built into apple compressor - amazing results for slow mo, but all night renders)_. but simply duplicating frames wouldn't be such a render burdon... and all the code would be in Quicktime (which i'm guessing ableton are using to create the video window)..

It is my guess that quicktime does not have frame duplicating in its code. Neither Final Cut not Motion can play warped video in realtime, so I guess that Live is just speeding up and slowing down playback and not dealing with frame rate at all. Motion does not have time warping and I assume this is because it is not possible to do in realtime.nobbystylus wrote:you wouldn't want to get into interpolating frames, as the renders are adsurdly long, even on the latest hardware.. Not that I mind the suggestion, just that I suspect it might be a good bit of work for Ableton, and then you immediately get into quality issues. Frame blending looks better than just duplicating and of course interpolation is better still, but as you say, has a big render hit.
Then it becomes an issues of time and resources and what features to put the time into.
I just wanna say Live 6 is awesome and videowarping is something I really didn't expect.
But it is wonderful. I've already created some a/v tracks that will add so much to my live PA.
So I dream of the day they can release video exporting.
It will be just unbelievable.

heh just think about it for a second, live is a professional MUSIC program , its not a video making program , just like logic offered video IMPORT it didnt and will not EVER incorporate video EXPORT , why ? cos we as musicians might be wanting to SYNC video stuff to music stuff , but as far as EXPORTING video is concerned wouldnt ableton then have to collaborate with adobe? or apple or both? in order to have the rights to use quicktime format, and or avi or any other video format..
Personally , i say keep live for music , Video import is entirely usefull but making live a VIDEO / MUSIC program would , in my view be a very huge step backwards... certainly when there is still things which LIVE should include but still havent..

just my 2 sense
