Sounds like a lot of hassle to me. I think you should ditch it and get on with making some tunes!

all mac users i know come to me for more technical support than any pc user i know.

you've gotta admidt that setting up and dealing with a mac is a lot more straight forward than PC.

You do realise that arguing over mac vs. pc is so last millenium.

Use what you use. If you use a PC and like it why argue over Apple's problems? Likewise with Apple users.

like i said, i already have both and have shown them equal love. Sadly the pc has started crapping out lately. Here are the specs for both of them

PC:
sony vaio vgn-s150
1.67 Ghz Pentium M
60 GB 5400 RPM
512 MB RAM

I use it with an echo indigo io or a mackie satellite. i've been alternating between them a lot lately to test this problem. I have the same issue with both cards, so its an issue with the laptop itself i presume.

MAC:
macbook pro 15"
2.16 Ghz Intel core duo
100 GB 7200 RPM
2 GB RAM

i just use the satellite with this one. the indigo io doesnt fit in the new express cardbus slot

Anyways as you can see, the MAC has an obvious advantage (mainly because i got it recently), thus i use it as my main production rig. Although i like to go back to my PC every once in a while (especially to finish up some older tunes that i'm just too lazy to transfer over along with all their files over to my mac)

This is why i wanted to get the PC back into working shape. But yeah, if dealing with this gets too complicated i'd rather just stop making music on it and continue using my mac full time for that.

I'll just keep the pc around for stuff that's not too demanding. Like Word, Excel, things of that nature

well it was good while it lasted.

bollocks to all the 'this would never happen with a mac' comments.

my pc is rock solid & never crashes. Mac users just feel like they have to justify spending twice as much

This sounds like a heat issue. Also do you have your wireless connection enabled. I have seen that and windows firewall cause some cpu issues when there is traffic on your computer.

Look at those specs!! Spend a night going through your als. files on the windows machine saving the files as self-contained, then copy and paste the whole library over to your mac.

Good lord why wouldn't you want to work on those on the machine?

No I don't.

Any system that comes preconfigured is easier than doing a whole install yourself but that is not really a good comparison.

not really... theyre both about the same.

personally not being a unix guru i find myself limited thru the os x user interface when it comes to dealing with solving advanced problems.

this is in no way a mac vs pc thing but my apple experience tends to be more along the lines of it either works or doesn't

i find that if i'm still having problems with something after having performed an OS restore along with reinstalling the problematic device/software then you're totally screwed.

you're most likely totally screwed.
