M-Audio MIDI Controllers

Post by jondasutra » Fri Sep 29, 2006 4:05 am

The USB outputs on both my o2 and trigger finger have become loose connections. They never even leave my studio. There hardly even moved. It sucks to have these pieces dissconect because of a sh**ty USB output and everytime it does i need to re-start LIVE to get it working again, and then it happens again. Does anyone have a remedy for this (besides duct tape). ?????

I fixed 3 different M-Audio keyboards, each with this exact problem.

I opened them up, and found where the USB port was. Then desoldered the old loose shitty solder, and resoldered it to the board. Worked fine. I suppose you could also use superglue, but solder is better.

I guess i'll try opening it up and sodering it. Whats the worst that can happen, the USB output doesnt work anymore and i have to go MIDI out.

Thanks for the reply.

Welcome to M-Audio... :?

I'm all for budget equipment to make music accessible to the masses, but why the Abes choose to be associated with M-Audio is beyond me! I don't see how anyone could confidently gig with their poorly built products.
