Only for Ableton Masters!!

Post by pathaniya » Mon Sep 25, 2006 7:16 pm

How can we apply Fruity Loops RANDOMIZER on any of the Ableton's instruments, preferably Operator? Or is there anyway, within ableton, that a flexiblity of Randomizer can be achieved?

Any work-arounds?

aren't preset files just texts anyways? i never looked, but if they're human readable, you could probably write a script that generated random numbers and substitued them out. make a bunch of them and scroll through your random presets... bear in mind that you'd have to work in a discreet range...

...on second thought just submit a feature request and wait. :P

using a tool like plogue bidule, you can map out all the midi assignable elements you would like to randomize in Live and then make a randomizer patch which assigns a random variable to those CC values.

This is one reason why I'd love Live to support a macro-based scripting language (maybe Python or JavaScript-based?)... ah, the freedom... aahh, the power....

i think they are binary files but with a bit of trial and error, lots of patience and the right tools (diff, hex editor etc..) you could probably work a lot of it out.

it would be nice to have a scripting engine though..python would be ok :)

i dont know the FL randomizer, but i do something which im sure is similar with MAX and internal midi routing (IAC in macs, something else in PCs). i just have Live send out a sync "heartbeat" (MTC or something like that), which max recieves and then uses to pump out random note ons, cc's, or pitch bends (or anything if i desire so). its pretty awesome. if anyone wants the patch (u need max, or i could do an app, but i dont know if i have all that energy) let me know.

It wont help with randomizing operator but I use Phrazor http://www.sonicbytes.com/phrazor/phrazor.htm for randomizing vst presets. You can even select only certain parameters for randomization.

Apologies to Ableton Masters!

Here's my workaround-

Surely, we all know how easy it is to make a bassline or whatever we want to out of a Fruity Randomizer. How i do is once i've got a structure of the song, i seprately(Not rewired) open Fruity in the same tempo as the Live set is in, use the Randomizer for the same scale and tempo that my .als is in, use variations and export the track in midi format. Then i import that midi track in my Live set into the Operater Track, Then begins the REAL quest for the sound!

I hope u enjoy the suggested Quest!
