MIDI Control to trigger clip? is that possible?

I'm a newbie, i tried to search this forum, bought a few books on live. Is there a way to program my controller to play a clip? I suppose that's what people do with trigger fingers and other pads, correct? or are they merely trigger samples from a sampler such as battery within live? any help is appreciated, thanks.

Well if u sync Live with your external midi controller, Live will start as soon as you touch any control knob.

I guess everyone has been pretty preoccupied with Live6 these last hours

go into midi assign mode, click the clip you want to trigger, hit the midi controller you want to use, then exit midi assign mode. Very quick process.
