midi envelope release bug

Post by sans soleil » Sun Oct 01, 2006 1:32 am

for some reason when i'm playing sampler or simpler from an external keyboard, the release envelope suddenly stops if i release the keys. if i trigger a new note and THEN release the last note it (the last note) goes through its full release decay. somehow a full note off seems to be sent when i release the keys.

if i record a sequence, then play it, the envelope releases properly.

this only happens when i'm playing an ableton instrument directly in live. other plug in synths as well as external hardware synths all behave properly (go through the full slow release decay).

i can't quite figure this one out...

just realized that some of my other keyboards work ok when used as a master (i.e.my microkorg will give a normal envelope release).

it just seems to be my older keyboards (i.e. the kawai k1 which i use as my master keyboard as well as my juno 106) which seem to cut the note off immediately upon key release.

this happens regardless of which port i use...i've also swapped midi cables etc. etc. and it doesn't make any difference.

...makes me think it must have something to do with a midi protocol thingy ??
