Live 6.0.1 - Clips start freezing aftre a while...

Post by djbrandao » Sun Oct 01, 2006 7:55 am

When I'm about messing around for ten minutes with the new Live, looks like it starts "eating" RAM... The clips will start freeze a perceptible fraction before launching (all of then, even if I stick to only one). it will make some n-noise, if you know what I mean.

What happens is that I'm using the same Set in 5.2.2, never had a single bug, and in both, they consume 11-18% of memory, besides my Asio buffer is set at highest.

Is this version that memory hungry, or is it a minor report that will be solved in a newer version?

Tks,

I'm having the same exact problem. I begin playing clips, and after 5-10 minutes of playing things start to stutter and freeze. I thought to open my task manager and watched as my memory was whittled away to nothing while playing clips. The memory is not freed up again until I close Live and reopened it. i never thought to check this before to see if older versions behaved in this fashion, but i've pushed older versions harder than I am now and I'm having worse results. This is occurring with 2-3 tracks of playback, 4 tracks of live monitoring, and 2 soft synths. Any Ideas?

worked wonders for me...

Hello,

Live 6 is using the file cache of windows, and it seems it is not working as expected on some systems, in some conditions. You can turn this off by creating a text file named Options.txt, to be placed in the Preferences folder of Live 6. Write that string in the file, save it, and restart Live:

"-UseFileSystemCacheForReading=Off" (without the "" marks)

The Preferences folder is located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\*your name*\Application Data\Ableton\Live 6.0.1\Preferences

Hope that helps,
kind regards,
