I don't want SWING, I want GROOVES how!!!!
OK,
I know that live will let me swing my clips, but I want to emulate grooves from other breaks and stuff.. You know...it's called Groove Control.
Why in the hell can't I figure out how to do this in Live. It seems it should be a no fucking brainer.
Can I copy a groove (and by that I mean the timing and velocity of a groove) of a file be it MIDI or audio and apply it to another?
I can do this in EXt, Cubase, fRuity, Orion, how about ....LIVE.
Live is my host of choice, I figured by now they would have emplimented groove quanitze, but I'm getting a little scared now.
Can this be done???!!!???
Thanks,
dw

Heres what happens when you move warp markers in an attempt to work a groove
Loops sound fine on their own
Add multiple loops and all sorts of phasey randomness happens
very often a part of a loop will not sit correctly with the music so you end up splitting the audio on to other tracks to try and fix it eventually getting lost in teh clicky editing of it all.
If you use many loops and want to change the feel of most of them forget it unless you want to sound like you mixed under water
moving markers is better on vocals and non percussive sounds
The new method in Live six doesnt sound like the answer to me but I havent been able to work out what its all about yet.

i haven"t tried this yet cuz i have a different method for quantizing but if you do tha "get user groove" thing in reason, apply it to whatever you want to groove quantize + then export tha file it should work no? (long process but if you are only quantizing a couple tracks should be ok). check this:

I was impressed by it. I tried to add a certain rhythmic feel to a project, and ended up simply tapping the rhythm to a table, recording that, and mapping that as a tempo master. Everything (MIDI and audio) follows that groove instantly. Seems to work very nicely.mercyplease wrote:The new method in Live six doesnt sound like the answer to me but I havent been able to work out what its all about yet.

sounds interesting so looking forward to trying it out but it seems to be a one size fits all and is not really what Im looking for. All I want is groove quantise fo seperate midi tracks and some sort opf beat extraction process that can be applied to midi programmed drums or the other way around.Nokatus wrote:I was impressed by it.
