Is there any way to record a beat without any tempo setting then have Live detect what tempo i played at and quantize afterwards? I find it really annoying having to record a beat with the metronome going in the background, and i also dislike recording single loops at one time (like how they show in the tutorials where you layer sounds up as live repeats a section of xxx bars).
It would feel much more natural to me to work this way, then go through and pencil in some additional percussion after i have layed the bones of a beat down without worrying about 'playing along' with Live.
Question about recording beats....

of course, turn off the metronome, and turn off global quantize, and turn off clip quantize and you'll have just what you want whether in session view or arranger mode.
