Pop/clicks... no audio!
Live 6.0.1, G5 2 x 2GHz, Yamaha 01v mLAN, mLAN Auto Connector 1.0.4.
Flawless audio gigging all summer with 5.2. With 6.0.1, audio clicks, then cuts out altogether for 5-6 seconds, then starts up again. Repeats continuously. Buffer setting doesn't matter.
Upgraded to OS 10.4.8, fired up Live 5.2, which still works without a problem.

I'm getting the same probleme, and when I hooked up my Macbook pro with no sound card it worked fine. Why am I having these issues with Live 6... is there anyway to fix this. Is there a simple setting I need to change. I fiddle with buffer sizes and stuff and still no luck. I'm finding when I'm reading more and more about Live 6 more and more people are having this probleme. Live 5 works like a charm and gives me no issues at all with or without the soundcard (MUTO Ultralite).
That is not good, and i also orderd live 6.

I have tryed everything and I'm stumped... got home and went at again (with the updated L6 file I saved yesterday), and I still have a choppy audio comming out of my speakers. I put the buffer size to the highest and worked my way down and still no luck. The thing that seems odd to me is that my L5 works fine, but my L6 doesn't.
I even copied all the settings I have from 5 just for the hell of it and still it doesn't work. Also in Live 5 my buffer size is at 250, and I get no problemes at all. I started a new template and still I get the same audio woes I've been having. I know it should work, and I know it may be jsut that one little setting that has to be adjusted, but can't figure out what it is lol.

Hi folks,
please always let us know on which operating system and on which computer hardware you use Live.
Furthermore, please check each of the 4 points I did provide in this thread:
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48812
It is important to check each point and to see if the points 3 or 4 make a difference or not.
Regards,
/Alex

My set goes as
MacBook Pro 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo 100GB of memory>fier wier connectted to MUTO UltraLite> Midi in of MUTO Ultralite > To DJM-800 Midi out > I have rca to 1/4" connected to channle 1,2,3 to the output jacks of the MUTO UltraLite, so channle 1,2,3 can be used for ableton.
I have done those steps, and I still get the same outcome.

so does it makes a difference when you disable the mutli core/processor support in Live 6?
Are your Audio, MIDI and plug-in buffer size settings the same as in Live 5?

No it doen't make a diffrenece it still goes all wanky.
also I want to make sure I'm doing this right... trunning off the core/processor.
That would be in the CPU tab in prefrences and just trun it off... that's what I did.
MODDER1,
then temporarily rename Live's preferences file (do not delete it)
"/Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 6.0.1/Preferences.cfg"
to something like "Old_Preferences.cfg".
if you have a template Live set there, please also rename it to "Old_Template.als".
The start Live again, use the same audio settings like in Live 5 and check if it makes a difference.

Point 4 made me a new happy user of Ableton 6.0.1. Could also put three pluggin racks into my master without compromising to much my cpu and soundboard
Disabling the cache should be a MUST do for PCs (should come installed, since not many ppl are geeks as me, and the info page on ableton's site only says to search the aplicattion data folder for Ableton 5. You have to guess that 6 is the same thing, and the site has not been updated).

Not always. In fact, in the most cases it is better to have it on, but it depends mainly on the size of the installed RAM and the structure of the used Live set.. You have 768 MB on your machine. XP uses about 256, so 512 are left for applications.Disabling the cache should be a MUST do for PCs
