Really liking the new Live, but this really makes me mad. Its like the easiest thing to fix, yet there has been no change. Just add in preferences how many extra tabs you want with a little + and a - button.

+1!
great idea!

ps: someone told me that the number of tabs opened has an effect on the memory used... but not 100% sure...
in other words if you open the 3 sample tabs (in a folder with samples) at the same time the ressources used are higher. this could be the only negative point...

I dont know if thats the case, but either way it doesnt matter as long as you can choose the amount of file browsers yourselves. Additional feature would be if when you add tabs, you can name each tab in your preferences, so when you hold your mouse or something over it, the name for that specific tab would show.

I guess I could post this in feature wishlist instead, but I already have, both before 5 and 6. I'm just being frustrated.

Bookmarks are just as easy, and don't waste interface space.

I wouldn't say no to the option of adding additional browser buttons as well, though.

Sorry, but bookmarks can never replace tabs for me.
I just find it confusing that i can have the same bookmark open in 3 different tabs.
The same goes for proper fx and instruments tabs, for both ableton and 3th party stuff.
And please let us give them names, would save a lot of hassle.
Why not simply make a context menu entry, "add tab for this folder" instead of an additional bookmark function?
With all this "we want to keep Live´s UI simple" philosophy, useability gets slowly bloated, not the programm itself.
From Live 1 to 6, they have added so many functions,
but not really thought about how to access everything.
Just give us tabs and buttons where they are usefull please.
