Cue feature not doing what I'd expect

Hi, I'm still a beginner in many ways when it comes to live. I played with the demo of 5 for some time and betas of 6 and just took the plunge and bought it.

So here's my setup. I'm using the M-Audio Ozonic as my audio interface. It has 4x4 ins/outs if you didn't know. So, I have my stereo monitors hooked up to 1/2 and my headphones hooked up to 3/4. In Live the Master Out is set to 1/2 and Cue Out is set to 3/4. I have Solo/Cue in Cue mode.

Now, reading the tool tip what I'd expect is when I click the Cue button on a track, the audio will be routed ONLY to the Cue Out. What I'm experiencing however is that the audio is routing to both the Cue Out and Master Out, which I fail to see how that is particularly helpful.

The cueing from the browser is working fine, so I see how that's useful, but not how cueing a track would be since anything you do on that track would also be audible on the Master Out.

Now, I know I can achieve the effect I want by using Sends. What I'm trying to understand if this is how Cueing in 6 is supposed to work (I never tried it in 5), and if so, how you could use this.

Assuming that you have your routing in Live setup correctly (ie 1/2 to master, 3/4 to cue), then you should look to see if there is a mixing console application that came with your soundcard. It is likely mixing all four channels into 2 channels.

Ah.. Sound card isn't in the picture, but the Ozonic might be doing that. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Looking a bit closer I can see that it isn't my Ozonic or any software mixer.

Playing just one clip and having it cued I can see the meters for 1/2 in the Master Out drop down as well as 3/4 in the Cue Out registering audio, so it's definitely Live that's doing it.

Here's a screenshot:

As you can see the audio is being sent to both the master and cue.

Played around with it a little more and I think I figured it out. As I expected it was something simple. You just turn down the track volume while it's cued and it continues to play over the cue out at a volume defined by the blue volume knob in the master track, while the master out goes down to whatever volume level you set. This makes sense, since I guess you probably wouldn't want to immediately cut a track out of the mix typically.
