because they're all busy using it? :)

You heard a lot about 5 because people were bitching about the bugs...

Seems the new features are like a upgrade to those who already had the package - as in you've had 4 5 and now 6 - cool features but people were expecting alot of this in 5 right?

So 6 drops and it's like...cool thanks

or maybe heads are so deep racking, freezing and sampling (cheesy play on words for Sampler) they just don't have time to be all hype about it

this is the first release since 3 I haven't pulled the trigger right away

I'm up on 5.2 - I'm in the middle of what's turning out to be an expensive move, yet even then - I still don't have a dual core processor...I beta tested from day 1 or 2 or 3 and up until about a week or so before the release I couldn't get my head around the racks

all this makes me say - why run and spend the (educational) discount money when you're doing ok <---> granted I get paid on Friday and after I actually move I'm upgrading on Saturday 8)

I don't know - maybe everyone and their mom has Ableton and it's like "Yeah, the programs bomb, duh."

No trigger pulling here. I have no multicore CPU as of yet, and I am wanting to see how the library transfer situation gets resolved. I am holding off for those reasons and a few others.... and i might buy a new laptop very soon.

There is hype. Even on the keyboards forum at harmony central there was a 2 page thread about L6. I haven't seen any political threads on the board in awhile. mostly all just Qs about 6. It looks great, the beta was fun, and I am sure it will be nice to have, at least having sampler will make it feel "different" but I was hoping 6 would bring some drastic changes.

hey, as long as it makes making music faster and more fun!

well, I'm really enyoing L6!!!!!! I feel so comfortable with it, can't even imaging using L5... version 6 is sweeeet!!! with freeze and editing freezed tracks.... mmmmmmm love it!, and saturator and eq8, sampler and everything, I'm having a lot of fun!!!!!! and do not worry about cpu or anything!!!! (I'm on a pb G4 1gh) live runs smooth, and I feel more concentrated on making music, and sound design than thinking how's the cpu going... me-happy

CORRECTION

There actually quite a few substantial changes in 6. I guess my main thing is the fact that I want to also hear the EIC so i know whether to get a box, and get a new f*$^* lappy that has core 2 duo.

I did want to see some changes in 6 in terms of GUI. I love most of the layout, i just wanted the ability to see arranger and session at the same bloody time. Helpful for mixing.

Me and my friend use Live 4. How do we get 6?

Do we have to upgrade to 5 first? Can we just go to a store and buy Live 6 Upgrade boxes or something?

Clueless over here, sorry.

Really?
I guess i must have tested it too much...
I'm not saying that Live 6 is buggy, because it's really stable.
But with the hundreds of (small) features and improvements..... They've given me more then enough to bitch about.

I mean, 8 bloody macro's.....
We're not all using limited novation controllers you know..

Live's devices still have no custom MIDI maps.

No recording of CC automation in session view.

The bloody tab key is useless when renaming macro's.

The edit button is gone and is replaced with a process which can only be described as a pain in the ass...

*Insert list of remaining grievances*

We've come a long way baby. But we're still nearer to the gutter then to the stars

I'd say it might be because 5 was around the time that "digital" djing was taking off, i mean it was around that time that aload of people saw an alternative to CD's and vinyl, probably thorugh better marketing and the likes of people like sasha and hawtin usign it (even though theyd be using it previous). Also live 5s features were aimed at prospective "dj"s - i man autowarping and mp3 support wer the features that were tlaked about most last year when it was announced.

Because I'm clueless, as stated. I was stoned and posted before thinking, forgetting momentarily that this site was more than just a message board. I have the board's address saved as a favorite and don't check the front page. I'm new.

Thanks much for the tip Frank. I'll try to think before I post.

*tips hat*

*checks front page*

Yeah I'm really sorry I missed out on the orange dot controversy. I feel... left out.
