Studio monitors

Post by DogsInSpace » Thu Oct 05, 2006 5:08 am

Hey all,
Just a quick question about setting up some monitors.

At the moment I have a spare set of Sony speakers that are designed for home theatre use. However, the connections are not 1/4"; they are merely bi-wired using speaker wire.

Is there a solution that allows me to connect these up or am I best off getting a set of monitors? There are my only speakers so I'd love to be able to use them.

Oh and these forums have been great reading on my two days off. I've actually got my head around the feature set now.

Thanks!

Andy

Get monitors.

If those others are designed for home theatre use then they probaby have eq circuitry that ups the bass and treble, which is exactly what you -don't- want.

Cheers bud. Had a fire at my place which has left with $4k worth of speakers [that still work] that my insurance have replaced but I otherwise have no use for.

Thanks for the help.

Step 1. eBay the HiFi monitors
Step 2. Buy some sweet ass monitors and other gear with the change.
Step 3. Become super famous and rich.

easy!

Thanks for the recommendations. Having a quick look at local vendor sites but the 8000 series by Genelec look pretty cool and the MackieHR look ok too.

Cheers guys
