Mp4 conversion

Post by meep_audio » Thu Oct 05, 2006 5:22 pm

I was bored of the music i had at work this morning so decided to but something new.

A girl at work put Itunes on my computer (didn't want it but hey) but i thought i'd try the itunes store to buy a new album. I normally use Bleep which i think is great.

Now i've downloaded the files i realise i can only play them in itunes? I sent them to my home email and can't open them in any of the media players i have.

Is there any way to convert mp4 audio files to mp3 or something i can play?

Hope someone can help.

You can burn an audio cd of the album and then reimport the cd into itunes as mp3. Make sure that import as mp3 is selected in the advanced prefs. Also, something I learned is that if you are burning a playlist with songs from itunes on it you can only burn it 7 times. Stick with Bleep.

The problem i have is that the burn playlist is greyed out for the track i want to burn.

Am i missing something here?

You have to burn the playlist from itunes. Other media players will not recognize Apples m4a format. I'm assuming you are trying to play the files you sent yourself from work. You can download itunes for free, burn a disc and then import the audio files in your usual media player as mp3. Hope this helps.

Thanks for you help.

However, I have sent the files to myself and am playing them in itunes library that i have had to download to play them.

When i highlight them and thrn go to the file menu. the burn playlist to disc is greyed out so i can't burn them to anything.

The files are mp4 files. I can't import them into anything. Itunes will not let me export them in any way. I keep getting a window telling me that the files are copywrite protected.

I can't believe Itunes is this rigid. I didn't want an ipod. I certainly don't want one now.

another way is by recording them.

Can you get the sound to record in live?

In windows basic soundcard modeyou can enable the wave out to record on wave in.

I use Emu 1616M, with the patchmix you can insert a send into the channel strip send to asio in1/2, record the file in live.

I use Audition. because im forever burning 1 track to CD and then importing it and throwing the disc away. What a waste.
