WHY DIDNT YOU BETA TESTERS BANG THIS POINT HOME???
I have been involved in beta testings way back. hardware and softwars but never a daw. The whole point was to find bugs but also point out operational stuff. the companies I worked for Roland Yamaha and some others were just as interested in the operational side isnt ableton?
I realise now I should have taken part. I would not have let something like this slip by. Maybe ableton beta testing is only for bugs and if so I wouldnt take part unless they paid me. If I cant point out operational stuff then whats the point. That really is just a cheap way to find bugs and I wouldnt go along with that. Its unfair to the users who beta test if they have no say at all in the functionality.

I voiced my objection in at least 4 threads related to this subject.
But to be fair. I have lots of objections

because you can't always get what you want..

yes they are..
read the beta forum or take part next year..

ppffff.. how arrogant is that?
so we failed?
no offence, but what makes you think that YOU would've convince them to do it your way? take a rest.. all beta testers did a great job..

READ the different threads on this topic..
there are good reasons why they designed it like this..
ok, it's not the perfect solution yet, but I don't feel this subject is closed..
I think there will be a sort of revision in future releases..

Just take part next year and find out yourself..
Ableton DOES listen.. there we're many operational revisions done during the beta phase because beta testers suggested so..

oh we surely did

there was an "alpha" that went on for a good 2 weeks before the first beta, and pretty much most of the stuff discussed in the beta phase was all discussed there plenty first

and my alpha was pretty stable so I had alot of time to moan about things like that

The removal of the EDIT button is one reason I have not yet upgraded to Live 6. The thing is, I use Live in conjunction with Audition daily, and the EDIT button is a crucial part of my workflow. During beta testing I realised that I hate the new way they have changed this - it has basically broken my workflow.

I hope that Ableton will bring the EDIT button back in 6.0.2. In the meantime I am not sure if I will upgrade.

Yes, agreed. This new behaviour is cumbersome.
It would be excellent to have both the old and new way.

Also it seems a logical item to add to the content menu when one Right Clicks on the waveform being displayed in Clip Edit view.

I found it better than in 5.2.
Yes there's more work to do but it's better if you have several samples to edit/replace. Maybe I'm loosing something.... :?

ye Forge but its hardly the flood gates of the river nile rushing in. I think theres a lot of user apathy with this software. Fuck fuck fuck It, I care if a feature I use is removed. I get in to a habit and as wel all know its hard to break habits.
