OK! I KNOW THERE HAS TO BE A BADASS WHO CAN HELP ME

Post by RushinSteele » Sun Oct 08, 2006 1:50 pm

It's simple ::: on my Dell core duo laptop w/Windows XP pro.... HOW DO I REMOVE "standard pc" (HaL driver ) " ---IN DEVICE MANAGER---- AND REPLACE IT WITH "uniprocessor" (HaL driver)? SONAR Multi support function use to work but doesn't anymore and neither does Ableton 6 now that "Standard pc" (HaL driver)" took over my computer ???? I tried several things but nothing has worked. I don't even know how that (haL driver) was installed.

Helpful guy/stupid little tosser :roll:

What a depressing place this forum is today.

@RushinSteele

Did you try the "update Driver" option in the device manager? I'm not familliar with that driver (soundcard related?) so unfortunately can't be more helpful. I'd imagine that another install that you did recently did something to switch drivers for some reason. You could try reinstalling your hardware to see if it fixes it.

Good luck.

Make sure APIC is on in your bios... Not APCI...... APIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controllers). Reboot, make sure you have the XP CD ready, because you might need it. If your bios doesn't have APIC, it might be listed as something else. Changing this setting for me changes my CPU driver between standard and advanced automatically.

it's been a long time since i messed with those settings,

but as i remember it was easy enough to switch to "standard PC"

but not possible to go back to APCI without reinstalling windows

but don't quote me on that.

I hate to reinstall because I can't find half the serials to all my older software Plus all my wedding DJ songs are installed....MAN! Plus my kid broke the installation CD to Guitar Rig 2.....I would almost rather buy a new computer than reboot ...I could use this one as an instrument w/ interface outputs going to a new computer.. BUT I AIN'T RICH...FFF*****CCCKK
