Live 5.2.1 Quantization + Record Enable Exclusive Bug?

Using Live 5.2.1

I don't know if this is a bug, perhaps it is normal behavior and I am not understanding.

The basic problem is that when using keystokes to simultaneously trigger Record Enable and Cliplaunch on a clip that is currently recording, it does not follow the Global Quantization.

Also, when I set Record Enable to Exclusive in preferences, and then use keystroke mapping to Record Enable they do not behave Exclusively! I can still Record Enable multiple Tracks. If I use my Mackie MCU, or Mouse they are Exclusive, but not with the footswitch>Keystrokes!

I set up my FCB1010>MIDI Translator 1.4 and map buttons to keystrokes in Live to Track 1 Record and Launch Clips 1 on Tracks 1-4 . A single footswitch button now triggers Track Record Enable and Launches Clips 1 for 4 tracks. The Global Quantization is set to Bar. When I press the footswitch the first time it starts on the beat 1, but when I press it again it does not follow the Global Quantization (it behaves as if set to NONE)

This mapping setup would allow me to have a row of footswitches, each one different only by which Track they are Record Enabling. This way I can mimic sound-on-sound looping by setting up a series of footswitch bottons. I can add a new layer/clip with a single button press. Each button triggers all 4 tracks because then when I record a new track they all start on the same beat. It also allows me to start a B section in a new scene very simply. When I press the first combo footswitch button for the new scene, it automatically stops the other clips, and I can build up the new section.

I have had to go back to a setup where I seperate my Record enable buttons from the Launch clips 1-4 buttons. Now I need two-three button presses for each layer.

I realize that those of us who wish to use live as a live looper (guitarists etc) are usually the least technical people on this forum. This bug would help all of us hands free people immensely.

Why does Live behave differently when triggered via Bomes>Keystroke?


I'm gonna see about trying a solution with autohotkeys scripts. Perhaps I can use Bomes to translate my Midiprogram changes from the FCB1010 to a single hotkey, then have an autohotkey script which exectues the multiple functions. I'm not sure why that would be any different whatsoever but since I just love wasting my time instead of making music...
