Well, I downloaded and installed midi yoke. Basically it put a .dll file on my computer and it was up to me to head to the "add remove hardware" (not programs!) and use the "add new device" option to show my computer where that .dll was.slatepipe wrote:hi frantic
let me know how you get on. i tried doing that midi yoke and rejoice thing ages ago to try and get a usb joystick to work as a midi controller but my brain nearly collapsed in the process. i just cant get my head around it but if you have success i'll have another look into it.
good luck
After that you have to go into your host program and set the inputs to the midi -yoke. I'm using Live, so I had to go into the preferences under midi and make sure the "Midi Yoke 1" appeared under the Active Devices and the Remote Control sections.
Then I had to run Rejoice. In Rejoice I had to set the Midi-Out to the same Midi-Yoke 1 that I had set in Live. Once that happened I could press buttons on my NES controller and the program was reacting. So then I would hold down a button (like B) and press the "Add" button in Rejoice. I did this for all of the buttons. I then went into Live and when I press the 'midi' button to make midi assignments I was able to use the NES controller, it recognized it just fine.
Again, as mentioned above, for some reason it is not recognizing the directional pad, only the buttons. I'm still working on this. I'm sure it has something to do with mapping in Rejoice, as I really don't understand what I'm doing with the mapping process.
