The Red Disk Overload Bug

Post by kineticUk » Thu Oct 05, 2006 12:47 am

Had the red d flashing.
Empty set, load preset Baroque Digital from the instrument racks.
Seems this preset has the red D bug, so you can check it out.
Maybe the same bug I stumbled across during beta.

Does ableton check this now or do I have to send emails? Cause I have put quite alot of bug in this forum and no replies.

Thanks

Ok just to add...
I left ableton open after seeing the red flashing Disk Overload and came on here to post this bug. When I had finished, I went back to my open Live.
Funny the Disk Overload was no longer flashing on the same patch.
Thanks

It may be the same bug, because the fix we found for your
report in the 6.0.1. needs a bit more testing and thus didn't
make it into 6.0.1. I will try to see if the I can reproduce it with
Baroque Digital.

We do check, don't worry, but as you said yourself, there are quite alot
of reports being posted at the moment, and each of them
takes significant time, esp. if we can't reproduce it.

Thanks Ralf...
I understand you guys are working hard, I didn't want to sound rude though just wanted to make sure I was posting in the right place.

Cheers

kinetic,

could you reproduce this problem.
I'm asking because I couldn't.

It is not the other bug from the beta
because Baroque Digital does not
contain loop end modulations.

Ralf
I am getting random disk overloads on quite a few occasions. I am still unsure what it is though (I know its not meant to happen). Its happened quite alot since I posted this topic but not using baroque digital, its been happening when I have been looking through the new patches (Audio Instrument Racks, etc).

I will check more and report when I have some info.

Thanks
d.

Ah, well, this is a known effect: the sampler presets
are loaded in the background, i.e. you can already
play while they still load. If you do and hit a note
which sample is not yet loaded, it plays silence and
shows the red D.

The time to load depends on the size of the preset
and may range from less than a second up to a few
seconds.
