3.02 and RME HammerFall HDSP MADI

Post by nkf » Tue Mar 09, 2004 12:48 pm

Even with a few tracks running I get clicks with the HDSP MADI and 6 ms latency on a 3.2 GHz P4 (ASUS P4C-800E deluxe with 2 GB RAM). With higher latency Live runs smooth but im wondering because with older Hammerfall cards I get glitch free lower latencies. This system is working with lower latencies and Nuendo just fine so it must have to to with some Live - HDSP MADI problems.
It is also not possible to select the last four or five of the 64 ASIO channels the HDSP MADI has in the ASIO dialog.

Hi nkf,

Concerning the last four ASIO channels, Live has currently a limitation of maximal 60 mono I/O channels.

Concerning the latencies, you can try to disable Hyperthreading for your P4 system and check if you would than get a better performance with lower latencies.

Alex

Alex, thank you for the (quick) answers ... disabling Hyperthreading is no option because it runs very well with Nuendo 2, the primary app on this machine. And as I wrote older Hammerfall cards work (with HT) and Live very well.
Maybe it's a good idea to contact RME because it could be a driver issue. I just wanted to check with Ableton first.
And btw.: Live is a fantastic app - extremely useful!
