no warning when hard drive full and samples unusable

I had something very strange happen with the samples

I recorded them with "resample" then when I clicked on the sample here's what I saw:



and I couldnt do anything with it - it looked off line but all I saw was those strange markings

I couldnt open them in an audio editor - I got a message in my audio editor saying "cannot use audio file it is being used by another application" or something

then I closed the live set then loaded it up again and it said the samples "couldnt be loaded"

then I looked and saw there was no room left on the hard drive

and I looked in the samples\recorded folder for the project and the samples were 0kb

so it looks like they werent recorded because there wasnt enough space on the partition but Live didnt warn me

Hi, Forge,

unfortunately i can not reproduce this here.
What is expected to happen (and what was happening when i failed
to reproduce what you experienced) is that about a minute before
you run out of recording space there is a warning message
and then another one after the recording was forcefully interupted.

The check for disk space is done every 3 seconds.

Do you remember anything special when you did that recording.

hmmm...not sure - I'll have a think but I think I wrote all that I thought was relevant

I do not think there are any files that would help.

To me it currently looks as if the recording track was armed
and the filesystem was already full at that point,
so that none of what was recorded could be written to disk.

The strange point here is, why did live not recognize that
no more free space was available, and thus skipped the
warning messages and the forcefull interrption of recording.

All further observations would be just fallout of that failure.

What medium did you write the recording to (hard disk,
removeable medium) ?

Could there have been another process that filled up
the disk immediately before recording ?

Hi Ingo

the thing is some files I recorded were ok - there seemed to be one track or batch that didnt work - it was I project I was in for a while

it was on an internal drive I think an NTFS partition

when I fire up Live next I'll have a look over the project and see if I can think of anything else
