Macbook + Firewire Audiophile, making Ableton go nuts...

Post by nrjizer » Thu Oct 12, 2006 5:10 am

Alright, maybe I'm doing something wrong here and missing the obvious, but I don't know what's causing this:

I just got a new Macbook and a Firewire Audiophile. When I set the FWA as either the Input or Output device, Ableton works just fine. But when I set it to BOTH, it goes crazy... the CPU usage level jumps up and down like crazy, and any track I try to play stutters and chops severely. Something is causing it to bug out. I've searched and couldn't find any information on this.

I hope I'm just being dense and missing something obvious!

yes, you MUST use an M-Audio driver written for the EXACT version of OS X that you are running. If you just bough the thing, it's got 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 on it. . . that driver disc that came with your interface was probably printed a year ago back in the 10.3.9 or 10.4.1 days. . .before the OS you are using even existed. I bet an uninstall and update will fix this.
