OT - fake mixing

so apparently future prophecies got busted at a dallas club playing cd's with 6 or 7 pre-mixed tracks at a time on them and just slamming from one cd to the next...

what do you think about that?

apparently its not that uncommon

Dallas is about the last place I would ever expect to find a decent club, so I couldn't really care less.

Sadly, you are correct. NO good clubs in Dallas. Sucks for us. Alas, when I think of clubbiing scenes, the trance/house heavy scene on Florida doesn't really come to mind either.

ok lets say it happened in YOUR city at YOUR event... forget that it was dallas...

and the promoters and other dj's on stage were the ones who spotted the shady technique...

Christ, it happens every weekend here in Berlin, I'd bet....

But if the clubbers are loaded up with enough booze and/or speed, that leaves only other DJ's in the crowd to get upset about it.

Really most people in clubs or whatever don't give a fuck what's going on behind the decks. They're most likely just there to take a shit load of drugs and get fucked with their friends. Then you have the ocassional guy standing at the back stroking his chin and looking down on everyone else because he's the only guy there who knows what label the previous track was from.

And I'm not Jaded.

I've seen similar stunts being pulled at warp nights. Chris Clarke makes nice music, but he's no performer....you might as well throw a house party and play some warp cds.

very true but i have seen it a couple of times and it shits me, so arrogant for people to do this. at least you can still trust vinyl

Really, if you break down what a typical (not necesarily REALLY good, just typical) DJ does - play other people's music - what's the difference if they play a premixed CD or not? I suppose its up to each clubber's personal preference, but shouldn't folks be dancing to the music instead of worrying about how the DJ is playing it?

There are those (this may be a BIG shock for a few on this board) that concider using a computer to DJ as "cheating". GASP!!!!

Really, who f-ing cares?

If the guy was promoted and sold tickets for their "scratching ability" or live remixing, and they played a CD of Q-Bert's DMC performances, I would be rather sore. If the DJ was promoted as the "best DnB DJ in town" and he played DnB, well, if I was dancing beacuse the music was really good... you get the idea.
