The Motu range of products are top class.

You really wont go far wrong with one of those.

An alternative to consider to the Motu is the Digi Design Mbox2 Pro.

But i think the Motu would be a better product.

I am just wondering what you plan to do with your CJD's.

Are you going to perform using those and live at the same time?

if so will you be routing the CJD's through Live?? - answer = motu ultralite or Mbox 2 pro.
If you are wanting to combine Live with CJD's but dont need to run them through Live - answer = Midi interface, AudioFire 2, and route MacBook through the DJ Mixer along side the CJD's.

If you wanted to record your mixes using the second setup, then you could have your 2 outputs of your Audio from PC going to (lets say you have a 4 chanel mixer like the Xone62) channel 1&2, 1 always to the mix, 2 always on cue so that you can pre listen to tracks on live as well as your CJD's through the same headphones. CJD's channels 3&4.

You then send the main mix output to the PA, and then your Tape/Booth/Aux out put back into your computer to record everything that your outputting.

To be honest i wasn't to sure how i was gonna do it. But reading what you've put i think routing it through live is the best way for it. I've got a shitty old 4 channel mixer anyways that i was gonna upgrade until i got involved with live. So think CDJ's - Live - Motu is the way forward.

Getting back to the little old Fader Foxes, whats your reason's for sticking with the LV1's? The faders look awfully close together, do you have problems with brushing past the faders next to the one your using??
Just can't make up my mind whether to go for the 1's, or the 2's?

WHy not just put all of your tracks in live?

I dont have any problems brushing the others, they hold quite tightly, not stiff, but smooth and tight.

I would get a USB interface like the UNO and your faderfoxes first, then worry about your soundcard when you are sure that you want to put your CJD's through Live.

I think you will probably discontinue your CJd's

yeah thats a valid point. suppose the thought of leaving the cdj's alone seems a bit bizzare really. Coming from vynil and then to cd's i've always loved beat matching my tunes. Just need to become familiar with Live to realise its full capabiliities. I'm learning new stuff with it everyday though.

But think your right, get the UNO and the Faderfoxes and then take it from there.

Will order this weekend.

No, you will only need 1 midi port, you can use one of those, if you need more Midi ins then this would be useful.

The FaderFoxes are modular, you take the midi out of one and put it into the midi in of the other. One is the master and the other is the slave - so when you change your channel from the master faderfox, you also change the channel on the slave faderfox.

Even more insanely thought out.

It has a smooth flow, but has a liquid resistance feel. It is strong enough to throw a little, the unit grips to surfaces quite well so it wont go anywhere.

It is not as fast moving as a scratch crossfader.

You couldnt do crabs with it or anything like that.

If you want more midi ins & outs than an Uno, try the M-audio Midisport 2x2 or 4x4.

These units are good.

I'm having trouble deciding between the LV2 and the DJ2. I see why the LV2 is better if you can have two, but the DJ2 looks rather nice b/c I can only afford one at the moment. Is it really worth saving up for two LV2s?
