[OT] Synth Challenge - Can you reproduce this?

Post by Strauzzie » Fri Oct 20, 2006 5:40 pm

Hey all -

I am trying to figure out how to get that gritty zipper bass synth that people like Justin Martin, Trentemoller, Induceve, etc.. are using. Can anyone reproduce this, or at least point me in the direction of how to go about doing so?

Many many thanks to anyone who can help.

Some samples of what I'm looking for:

Example 1
Example 2

Sadly no - the patch uses velocity switching between two Operator synths. This is set up in the Rack, which is a feature of Live 6.

You could do it on a Nord Lead 3 but don't go out and buy one just for that bass sound, they're expensive.

get a gnarly distorted saw wave, then put LFO on the pitch, and maybe a bit on the filter too.

I'd love to try it, but when I click to download I get a bunch of text. This happens to me with stuff at the covert op's site too. :(

That's because you're on a mac... You need to right-click and "save as". Apparently osX is turning all ableton .adg files into text files. Retarded, really, since the file extension is in there already.

Try working with this dude. True friendship is based on hate. At least he just hates my computer

Anyway. It seems to be just safari that messes this up http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/ind ... 67086.html
