The day before yesterday, I was speaking with a video editor, owner of a macbook. The major difference between the macbooks and the pros is the graphics proc. So he told me that he was amased by the performance he could achieve with final cut pro.
Also Logic 7 has very good perfomance...
So at this time macbook seems the best value for money choice...

Has anyone compared these two models?

so it seems like the macbook is alright. long as you got a unit that's not messed up, that makes sense for whatever laptop you get, the thing that caught my eye about the core2 is that stuff daniel posted about the cache being doubled. Cache has always made a big difference in performance so in my mind that's a big one to think about.
Mac, Mpc, and a Microphone
Thanks for the Slicer Abe.

I dont waste time ... or money,
unless i am enjoying it.
This helps me make more music.
I can afford to wait till january.
I hope this translates into
more cache or less cost.

One huge difference for me is screen size and resolution. So much that this alone has decided me to go for the MBP. I know 1280x800 is enough for most things, but I can't live with the 13'' size as it will be my primary (and only) computer. And no, I don't like having to attach an external monitor.

This is probably wise, if it is your studio computer. However, if you're on the move the 13" is probably the better choice.

Yes, I have seen them both live and decided the pro was not so much heavier, as it is quite thin also. I can easily carry it around and feels a lot less bulkier than my old pc centrino laptop. Buying a Macbook would force me to buy a mac mini or something to feel confortable at home, so I end up spending more than in the pro alone. I find the MBP is a good tradeoff between portability, power and confort. Of course, I will be waiting for revision B though.

Sorry to ask, Mac Newbie here....
Are you waiting Rev B to fix some problems on MBP or simply because you expect more CPU power?
I'm on the edge of buying and still can't decide what to do...
