WirelessPocketPC MIDI Controller Ended
Hey gafferuk, I would be interested in helping test this as well.
I would like to use it with Max/MSP. If you went the Wifi route,
would I need to get a Wifi router so that it would talk to my computer?
It would be nice to be able to have a physical connection to the host
computer as a back up, that way I would not need to buy any extra
hardware. This could be on sexy little controller!

With a pocketPC you get a lead that comes with it, that will work fine as a backup.apalomba wrote:Hey gafferuk, I would be interested in helping test this as well.

And yea, any old usb, pcmcia or WIFI network card will do, you don't need an expensive adaptor cus WIFI on PocketPC is 11Meg a second. You can get 100 Meg a second cards but why waste your money?
Average WIFI Network card is $30.
Did you know my app should also work over internet, Can't imagine much use for internet but you never know.
and indeed the pocket pc must have wifi , nowdays there are also wificards that fit into the pocketpc's sd and micro/minisd slots(if you r doesn't have it built-in)
anyway gafferuk, should not be good to give it a briefly test on a real device, just to check the real performance and the functionality? and to avoid problems that you could not be aware of? just wondering...

I have my pocketPC emulator talking to my receiving application and I have my receiving application talking to ableton, just have to join it all up and im ready for an apha test.
I imagine I will release 2 versions, one for free which has about a 17 controls on it so people can test it and a Pro version with all the 1400+ controls.

Right, just done an alpha test, I filled ableton with tracks and had ableton running at 70%.
Using PocketPC, adjusting sider, ableton did not stutter, my PC application used a mere 1% proccessor power.
The latancy was near realtime, just same as with my hardware controller.
Looks like i'm on to a winner!
I can only imagine now possibly one problem and that side is on the PocketPC, I have over 1400 controls and each time ableton sends out a midi message, the pocketPC has to go througth all 1400+ controls and set there vaues if needed. I'm just hopeing PocketPC's are fast enougth, they should be as you can play 3d games on them nowdays and they require lots of juice.
All in all im

but i think your app your building is far better.
I think it would work great alongside my 2 faderfoxes. Keep up the good work, count me in for a beta test.
