Step record midi?

Post by Moosh » Wed Oct 25, 2006 5:07 am

Is it possible to step record midi notes in Ableton? If so, how do you do it?

Thank you!

nope. Good topic for the features wishlist forum

closest is the 'Live 5 step sequencer' Machinate posted in the tips n tricks sticky, a really cool workaround, and a free plug-in called 'my first step sequencer' that's really weird.

Also check out the MIDI OVERDUB feature in Live. record midi into live, play along with what you recorded, overdubbing.

Live lacks in these features, please help me make noise about it. ;)

i just added that to the feature wishlist. it's amazing how complex this tool is yet it doesn't do some basic stuff which would really put it over the top!

Related question...What can you do in a step sequencer that you couldn't do in a piano roll sequencer? Pardon my ignorance

Stepping into record

It would be nice to throw down some notes, and have it scroll forward in 16th notes, etc... Just easier when writing acid lines, etc.
