That does it, I'm sold :)
Though I agree that dual waveform view would be useful. Yeah, you don't have it on old school decks, but it's due to the new ways I can DJ in Live that I want it :)
I agree. I can make do without but I'd like the option.

Adonis, i agree with you, if you want to use vinyl control and feel like your mixing actual records, then go with Torq. But I sold my turntables and just use live now. As it stands Live does everything I need that those programs do.

Also Adonis, you know that that name is used by one of the most famous Acid House pioneers right? Marshall Jefferson, Adonis, and DJ Pierre pretty much invented Acid House. Just thought you should know.

Funnily enough I pointed that out earlier in the thread.

you don't say?

I heard about this other guy who was born about 31 years ago and his mom decided to name him, Adonis of all names

I would probably think twice about using a handle like Tiesto, seeing as how that's not my real name

*little known fact: a bigger dj from Seattle who moved to Vegas named his first born after the famous chicago producer...

he told me that every time I ran into him the first few times we meet - cool guy, amazing dj :)*

the_planet wrote:Yeah, so, I was thinking to myself today about how Live is the most powerful software-based DJing tool EVER. Yes, it can be time-consuming to figure out exactly how you want it set up, and how to build features that aren't included with the software, but that's all part of the process. It weeds out the retards. ;)

I don't think they "abandoned" anyone.
Yes they did. I'm not a DJ but you can't even select a whole scene remotely anymore ! You could in Live 5 and now you have to use your mouse !! Great improvement. Especially "live". Fantastic, thanks Ableton.

BRING BACK SELECT ON LAUNCH
It is there, go to Preferences > Record/Warp/Launch > Select on Launch

WTF, do people not examine the software when they get it. I spent a whole day just looking at the Prefs and all to see whats new and where it is.
OF COURSE I know where select on launch is... pfff
M. Poltergeist, before explaining the basic features of Live to me, please check out :

and also

...and you will understand what WE're talking about. And you'll read how Ableton recognized they've CHANGED Select on launch's behaviour.
Thanks.

Poltergeist wrote:Remote selection of a scene is done by clicking on Midi or Key learn and looking under the master track stop all clips button there should be an up and down arrrow and a box with a number in it. Click on the box with the number and assign a knob to it. Use the knob to scroll through scenes and it will highlite a whole scene as you move the knob. Then you can use a Key mapping and set the little play button to the left of that to launch the scene you selected. Is that what your looking for?
No it's not, it doesn't select all the slots in the scene like it used to do in Live 5. Now you have to control-click the scene and choose "Select All slots in scene"(yes no kidding). How's that for a live musician ? You'll ask me why I wanted to do that, well for instance I could transpose a whole scene on the fly, nice fx huh ? Not anymore. Improvement.

pitch bend, pitch bend and once again pitchbend .. but not on "per clip" basis, that's meaningless as someone pointed out, the stuff are allready warped, but on the project master tempo ..

well, it's not really pitch bend as you do with turntables, even if the primary goal is the same, to push a record to get in beat, and in this case without retriggering clips or using a controller to change the tempo back and forth and totally loose the contact with the audience, with a button i can simply push the tempo forward momentarely and catch up with a song on my turntable ..

a momentary tempo switch maybe it should be called .. i described it here (link) together with some other stuff that in my case would be a great improvement .. it's easy to program, and invisible to daw purists as it would only be visible in midi/qwerty assign mode ..

I understand what you mean now. Its not a feature that I have ever needed, so I didn't notice it missing. Sorry for not getting what you said.

@ Nihad - When I learned to mix I controlled the pitch only through the pitch slider and not to touch the vinyl. So when mixing live into a record i just set a control slider to the BPM box and set it between 120 -133. Then I ride the slider and until i lock the tracks. Its not hard to get used to, and its like doing it on a turntable.
