What's the difference between hip hop and rap? (hint: anyone know their KRS-One?)

People in this thread are either pissed off at my comments or they find them funny.
Like i said
I dont even like hip-hop, but i do like talented people on decks scratching out beats and having someone rap over the top.
wasnt the first hip hop artist Afrika Bambaataa???

But i do know that Techno started on a chicargo radio station that was heard by 3 little boys in detroit - Joey Beltram, Derrik May and Juan Atkins.
They heard the DJ put a 4/4 kick drum from a 909 behind kraftwerks Trans-Europe Express.
Or does that mean that it started in Germany??????

He was one of the originators, yes - but that's not his real name!
His name's Kevin Donovan, and he's from the Bronx, NYC.

African artists may very well have been doing hip hop for awhile, but not before Hip Hop in NEW YORK. You get a time out, go sit in the corner.

...and I referenced wikipedia for examples of 19th century african slaves doing an early form of rapping.
but everyone knows hip hop came from bunnies.
