Macbook/Macbook Pro Audio Specs = Frustration

Post by huffcw » Tue Oct 24, 2006 1:58 pm

Anyone here happen to know the detailed specs for the built-in audio in the Macbook and Macbook Pro? E.g., do the inputs have 24-bit converters?

I am more curious than anything since I would likely be using an external firewire device (although, the internal audio may come in handy when on the road if it is high enough quality and has good latency specs).

[RANT] It is so frustrating that Apple does not provide any detail on the specs - and there is no way to get a consistent answer from Apple reps. I talked to a sales person in the store who didn't know a thing. Called once and the person told me the converters are 16-bit. Talked to another rep that said they are 24-bit. Searched the Apple web site and did not find any detail.

Just checked AMS on my 15" MBP - selectable 16, 20, 24 bit.

you don't want to use built in audio right?

Get an audio interface. FW400 preferably
