Tempo sync between Novation Remote SL and Live 6

Post by Naim » Fri Oct 27, 2006 8:09 pm

Hi everybody.

I just got a Remote SL Zero and so far it's a great piece of hardware. I do have one issue with it though. I can't get the tap tempo or tempo encoder to have any effect in Live.

I have tried a lot of different settings, but generally speaking I've enabled Sync in Live for Remote SL MIDI and Remote SL MIDI [2] both Input and Output and on the device itself under Global settings set the MidiClk to USBa and MClk-To to USBa.

Setup like this the remote seems to know what the BPM set in Live is, but any taps or tempo changes with the encoder has no effect in Live. When I flip the EXT switch ON in Live everything kind of goes crazy. Sometimes the tempo that the remote is recieving skyrockets to max or slows down to nothing, or other odd things.

So, if you've setup this before and gotten the tempo tap and encoder working with live (and sync'd) let me know how you got it going. Thanks!

Yes, DeadlyKungFu posted about this a while ago- search for his thread for the long answer. The short answer= it's a bug in the SL.

Novation said they are going to publish a new version of automap during this year and it will fix the problem.
