Guitarists? Guitars?

I mainly use an older PRS, but I also have a old Fender Squire & an Epiphone Casino. For ampage - I've tried some plugins but they still leave something to be desired, so right now I'm using an AdrenaLinn II. The newer amp sims on the version II are quite good. I have done some wacky stuff with the filters, etc synced to MIDI, but just last night I was using only an amp sim & it was really pretty kewl!

Still, I'd like to grab a low-wattage tube amp...

im guessing we tell everyone what we play then?ok i use a cheapo epiphone les paul special ( the one with only one humbucker) and a cheapo epiphone accoustic from the 60's.
i run it all through the line 6 tone port and call it good.

my theory: if 4 strings was good enough for paul, john paul, bootsy, stanley, jaco, ron, flea, les, etc., it's good enough for me.

yup, that's mine- for sale right now. my main bass is a 5 string electric upright, though....and i'm trying to pay off my wifes' school loans and buy a condo...
feel free to make me a reasonable offer

period. it is a guitar though, after all....a bass guitar.
i personally never understood limiting yoursel to old school standards.

bottom line is though, any instrument you run through ableton can be opened up to a new realm of possibilities!

I've always flipped between les paul's and strats. I love 'em both, obviously for completely different reasons.

I always used an epiphone gibson les paul. I find they sound just fine. I'd never splurge on a standard gibson. I'm also cheap with strats, I own a mexican. I know the americans feel and sound way better, but for the price, I've been happy with the mexicans.

Now I actually use a roland VG-88 with a roland gk-2a pickup with my strat (sold the LP) to simulate other types of guitars. You can get some pretty good sounds. I used to always play a les paul with a fender twin reverb, a big muff pedal, and a rat pedal, I've tried setting the roland to a les paul model, and then use a twin reverb in guitar rig 2 with big muff / rat, and the results aren't too bad for all digital. I have to say though, for distorted tones, the les paul straight into amplitube or guitar rig yielded the most convincing emulation of a recorded amp.

For clean or slightly overdriven, I also like logic's guitar amp pro.

fender all the way. mostly using a fender mustang at the moment. sounds like ass but i like it because it's weighs almost nothing - i had a les paul for a bit but it was just too damn heavy. my telecaster's falling apart...

i really like my vox tonelab for those fender amp almost-clean tones. i thought the podXT was cool for very clean or distorted sounds, but not so hot on those "hit it hard and it just starts to break up a bit radiohead "lucky" rhythm guitar" sounds. anyone know any software that's good at this kind of stuff? (i'd like to strip away some of the hardware if i can...)

for my money, i reckon there are probably at least as many people who play guitar as there are people who play keys on this forum. (by "play" i mean "play well enough to do it live")

I love my Les paul Standard. I've had it for 13 years and the sound has grown like a good wine. A year ago I bought that sevenstring-guitarmodel from korn and it plays like a peach. It takes a little extrastretching on the left wrist but the sound is fat!! (Drop A, rest is standard tuning)

Couldn't get planning permission for 8 strings!

Wow...a guitar thread...since Live 5, my approach to recording has totally turned around. My Tascam 2488 acts more like an interface now.
I'm using a trusty Parker Nitefly and a 12-string Chapman Stick through a Boss GT-8 and GT-6B.
I'm not a big fan of LPs. Recently, I saw a 7-string Schecter hardtail that gave me GAS but I'm over it now.

i'd take the sansamp stuff over the line 6 stuff for bass any day of the week. i'm not wild about either for guitar.

Guitar is what got me into Live. After years of accoustic folk-lery on my trusty 000-28, my wife gave me an Eastman 804CE. It's a big, beautiful, warm sounding hollowbody jazz machine. So, wanting some effects (chorus, delay, verb etc.) and a way to record to PC, I picked up M Audio's Black Box. It came with Live Lite. Then, making music with Live was so much fun that I got a Korg K49 mostly to use as a control surface and now I hardly ever play guitar.

I mainly play a very standard epi les paul which sounds great for all round electrc guitar sketching. Right after, an american fender telecaster and a japanese stratocaster of the early eighies - both very nice instruments. Recently I got a matsmumoko aria pro II, incredibile guitar, all pickups splittable, it's like having a tele and a Lp in use at the same time!
Most bizarre one i got is a double neck SG copy, german it seems, 12 string on the first neck and fretless (!) 6 on the other.
My main live amp is a fender twin amp (the "evil" one) but always more often i go onstage with the Vox Tonelab and a Zoom G2 or a trusty boss GT5.
