well, i'm not really into his stuff anymore (used to be a great fan).
here is a vid of a live he did

good bass playing skills indeed.
i don't know, i feel like he doesn't really renew his sound enough.

Yeah ive got it. Sounds nice you can tell his production has got better but it seems every tune sounds very similar.
I like the production better on his early albums, they sounded much darker and raw. I think hes lost something from then.
Still amazing though.

LOVE the new album, he's finally changed it all down a gear and really focussed on melody and this amazingly European sound, verging on Kraftwerk in places. Still some special madness here and there (The Modern Bass Guitar-BRING IT!!) but in general he's not trying to have everything do everything in every single track. Rough but smooth and some fine bass to boot, been rocking this in the car and everyone suddenly goes quiet for a few tracks because they're just sucked into listening. Can't say fairer than that.

I liked Ultravisitor but thought it was a bit too much. This new one is more back to basics and a good reminder of why I love Squarepusher in the first place. Great beats, amazing bass skills, and a few experimental/ambient pieces. The album works well as a whole because he's not trying to fit everything into the same song. The download only tracks Exciton and Hanningfield Window are great too.

this is some better playing here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF-95DW2 ... ed&search=
the video up top doesn't show very impressive playing at all in my mind. he might as well be slapping a punk bassline.

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

yeah im still struggling to get in to that, something's just very different. Fragile took quite a while though so maybe there's hope yet. Perhaps its cos he's gone sober now, a little stimulant does people like that goodzazamoth wrote:I wonder if thats anything like the last NiN Album!? ..I hated it at first and after I listened to it again, i was still ticked off at being made to wait five years to hear it!!..to be fair it did sound good live!..bad Trent !! actually the bassline in the vid is really even and precise...
not easy...at all.
that said, i think ultravisitor sucked...i try periodically to get into it, but even my wife hates it. the tune in the vid is nice, an actual melody that repeats...
or just maybe it'd that it sounds like an actual tune.
live i thought he got a bit redundant after an hour, but there is no denying
he's a fantastic talent.
