Rubbish. It's a clip from an early UK rave club (1990). N-Joi's "Anthem" - A HUGE tune had come out that year and that is what is playing.
But the reason for posting is the crowd. Those were the days where everyone in the place was on E, and the E's were good. Watch the crowd - look at the reaction. Listen to the screams of delight - the tune/atmosphere/MDMA is making them feel the ecstacy. You just don't see those kind of scenes in clubs any more; I keep watching it over and over again, reminiscing. This is what it was all about; the kind of thing that kick started the whole dance scene, in the UK anyway.
You say cheesefest? This was a pretty new thing at the time - the music, the drugs, the dancing, the whistles etc. I think you must be judging it as though it is happening now. Sure the whole thing has been done to death, nowt cheesier than a whistle at a rave, but we are 16 years further on.
Yeah, I agree with you Difference. It’s easy to take that clip out of context especially if the delight in those peoples faces means nothing to you.
Cool clip..
Cool clip..

You're right.
Everyone who keeps saying... "The scene isn't dead.... it's going to come back... or whatever..."
Sorry, folks... it will NEVER come back like it was back then. Those days are gone forever. I'm glad I caught the tail end of it, because I've got a lot of great memories. Even still, when I visit old friends and we try to recreate the vibe from the glory days... but it just can't be done.

Oh, I dunno. There's nothing quite like a nice, hot cup of green tea and injecting heroin into your eyeballs. It makes you feel all cosy and warm inside.disco45 wrote: Superb....a golden age, brought a tear to my eye....glad I was around then 'cos you sure as hell aren't going to have a good time like that these days.

I have to agree unfortunately. I caught the tail end of it too (in terms of going out anyway - I was into the music and playing with decks/samplers etc from an early age). Still, when I started to go to raves and house clubs - 1992/3 I think - it was incredible. It's impossible to describe the feeling of being in a club like that to someone who hasn't experienced it. I've given up trying!subterFUSE wrote: Sorry, folks... it will NEVER come back like it was back then. Those days are gone forever. Hey John - you dont need to apologise. It was a pretty awful song – hardly representative of the UK pill culture of the time. Just as likely to be played in your average beer swigging, bone cracking, cattle-market during the same period. But still, with the right crowd even a song like that can work wonders..stjohn wrote:I was a bit drunk and after posting and shutting down, i thought that actually sounded like early 90's buzz. yea crowd look mental.. sorry difference, ignorance on my behalf...

what glory days are you talking about subterFUSE ? have you lived somewhere else other than florida ? or done some travelling ?....I'm going out on a limb here, but I doubt florida has seen this kind of thing. or am I a victim of stereotyping ? Florida - the redneck state? where you're looking at a lifetime in prison for running a club where this kind of thing went on ?subterFUSE wrote:disco45 wrote:Superb....a golden age, brought a tear to my eye....glad I was around then 'cos you sure as hell aren't going to have a good time like that these days.

Not quite right. Firstly, that track was doing the rounds in the right clubs on white label and underground promo for 2 years before it got it's commercial release. I don't think it's an awful song at all but that's a matter of taste I suppose.punkdISCO wrote:Hey John - you dont need to apologise. See you,
Secondly, in terms of UK pill culture and raves at the time, the music in a venue was a lot more varied than now. An all nighter would take you on a journey through deep minimal techy stuff, acid house, dark rave and happy hands in the air stuff. N-Joi's own output is a good example of this. Anthem was as representative of the era's music as anything imo. (I love the track, but it still wouldn't make it into my top 10 from that period).
Oh, and regardless of the song and anyone's opinion of it I think the apology was warranted. There was no need to be so shitty. Apology accepted.
